Approach

I’m an Ottawa-based urban planning, affordable housing, and public engagement consultant offering services in community design, housing strategy, and participatory planning. My vision is rooted in the belief that dialogue, equity, and access are the foundations of a great community and that good planning only works when people are genuinely invited into the process.

Over the past several years, I’ve worked with municipalities, non-profits, co-operatives, and private-sector partners across Canada. My work includes leading approval processes for non-profit and co-operative housing, preparing local housing assessments, coordinating public engagement, advancing Indigenous housing initiatives, and supporting missing middle and transit-oriented development projects. I bring experience from roles with the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada, community development organizations, and municipal-facing planning work, giving me a holistic view of how policy, design, and community needs intersect.

I’ve also developed strong collaborative partnerships with experts in complementary fields; architecture and urban design, communications specialists, public consultation facilitators, digital engagement platforms, and GIS analysts. Drawing on these expert partners, I can assemble a tailored team that fits the scale and goals of each unique project.

My practice focuses on matching innovative engagement tools to diverse audiences to achieve meaningful, equitable outcomes. I pride myself on listening closely, responding to client needs, and delivering high-quality work on time and within scope. My commitment to community involvement and professional development is central to my approach. Active participation in groups like the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), housing networks, and planning organizations allows me to share insights, refine best practices, and contribute to a more inclusive and effective planning culture.

At the core of my work is a simple commitment: to help communities and organizations make better decisions through thoughtful planning, evidence-based strategies, and engaged, informed dialogue.
